Hello! This is a wonderful way to reach out! I am wondering if my group of sewing ladies can also ship you panties (what size is best) and the drawstring bags? (again do you have a size)
Hello Marg, We would be delighted to have your group sew the draw string bags. The recommended size is 11 inches by 16 inches. The suggested size for the panties is size 12-14 girls Hipster style. Many brands carry the Hipster style. The important thing is that they are made of cotton. Thank you for your willingness to help!
Hi Sandra! Would you still be collecting pads for the 2016 trip? I would like to sew up a few for donation. Also, just wondering if I could include a waterproof layer in some of them? Thanks!
I'm happy to report 5,000 pads for the February 2016 trip have been donated! Any pads received after January 1, 2016 will go toward future mission trips to Haiti. I will post an update on the blog as soon the dates are decided. We welcome any donations you would like to send, and including the waterproof layer would be awesome:)
I'm a little confused-do these pads wrap around the crotch of girls' underwear? If so, then what is best, Velcro, snap or safety pin?
The top side of the pad goes against your skin, and the wings wrap around the crotch of the underwear. The wings aren't sticky like on commercial pads, so you can use a pin, a snap, a button and buttonhole or velcro to hold the wings together underneath. The wings hook together, you aren't hooking the pad to the underwear. I hope that made sense. :D
Hi I make pads. How do I donate pads??
Thank you for your interest in the cloth feminine pad project. Completed pads can be mailed to:Sew*Quilt*Sharec/o Gateway Church9555 County Road 9Findlay, OH 45840
Thank you for the address. I will make it soon and mail it to you. Hopefully not too long.
I enjoy making cloth pads for myself but I only need so many. I live in the u.s. So due to the regulations I cannot sell them. I would really love to donate the pads that I have made (obviously never used), but I have made a tad different. They are very absorbent, they have cotton for the toppers, terry and flannel cores, a hidden layer of pul and flannel backs. They also have plastic snaps. Would you accept these?
Yes! We will accept cloth pads that are made from different patterns. The important thing on our end is that they are made well. Thanks for asking:)
I have recently begun sewing my omn pads. As I sew quite a lot, I always have cotton fabric scraps. I should love to contribute to your scheme, but I live in UK. Can I just send my contributions, or should I register my interest first.Looking forward to contributing to your wonderful and much needed supplies.
Thank you for your interest Elise! We would be grateful for any fabric or pads you would like to contribute. Donations can be mailed to:Sew*Quilt*Sharec/o Gateway Church9555 County Road 9Findlay, OH 45840
I was interested in donating some items but had a question. I see that soap donations are included in some packages. I wondered if donations of handmade soap are acceptable and, if so, would full size or travel bars be more desirable? Thank you for your time and I look forward to your response.
Thank you for your question. Handmade soaps are not currently accepted. Travel bars are accepted but standard, full size bars are preferred.
Are you still accepting donations ? What is the next deadline ? Thank you
Yes! Donations are still accepted as there is an on-going need in Haiti. The next deadline is September 15, 2017. All boxes received by that date will be included in the next Medical Mission trip.
How long did it take to make 5000 pads for your February trip? My daughter volunteers for a medical-dental mission in rural Chantal, Haiti, in the mountains. She is interested in making these for the trip in January. It would be in 6 months.
Based on our experience, you may want to consider starting with a small group of girls to support. This would enable you to get a program established, and get others involved in helping you. It will take several hours, depending on your skill level, for one person to cut and sew 10 pads.
When is your next upcoming mission trip...we would like to get our pads to you for it. Can you tell me when the deadline is for doing that please..Thank You!
Great question! The next medical mission team is scheduled for February of 2018. All pads received before September 1st will be included with that trip. Packing must be completed several months prior to allow for shipping and processing through customs. Any pads received after September 1st will be added to the following year's trip.
I will be going on a medical mission trip to Haiti in March of 2018 Would you folks be able to donate pads for this ministry OR how do we get involved with your ministryYour quilts are beautiful!!
I make pads to donate.I would love to make a bunch and send them to you. I missed the Sep deadline for 2018. I love making them. Please let me know if you would like a few dozen or more. I will also be shipping some to Sew in Peace.
